Scotland's grand castles and historical sites are on the doorstep of Westwood Cottage Bed and Breakfast. When the Scottish poet, Robert Burns, wrote about friendship and hospitality, it was based on his Ayrshire roots. Many sites connected to the national bard are preserved and open to the public. Other historical sites are maintained by the National Trust, Historic Scotland, or local foundations. The history of the area is documented all the way back to the Viking occupations and, with the excellent recreation sites and museums, a visitor can be transported back through time to any period.

History is still in the making in Scotland. Visitors from all over the world enjoy the many festivals and cultural events spread across the calendar and within reach of Westwood Cottage Bed and Breakfast.
